Andrew McQualter graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 1994 and since then he has held numerous solo, group and project based exhibitions in local, national and international venues. Andrew has been selected for inclusion in prestigious exhibitions including NEW03 at ACCA, Primavera at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney, Why we do the thing we do, curated by Jacqueline Doughty, PICA, Perth, City Within the City, Artsonje, Seoul, curated by Artsonje and Gertrude Contemporary, Melbourne and his international solo exhibition Twee Projecten, Stichting Het Wilde Weten, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Andrew has received Australia Council grants, and was the 2011 resident at Australia Council Liverpool Studio. Andrew’s art practice has been supported by an Arts Victoria New Work Grant and he has held a Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces studio. Between 1994 and 2000, Andrew McQualter was active as a writer on the visual arts, producing criticism and commentary for various arts based publications in Australia and New Zealand and writing catalogue essays for exhibitions. Andrew is represented in the MCA permanent collection, the Vizard Collection as well as in private collections within Australia and internationally.
